Working on the Valentine’s day candy for the monkey’s class for tomorrow. My daughter used to love to do this. Every February 13th, we’d work on decorating the candy bags and filling them up. She’d write down each of her classmate’s names in her prettiest handwriting.
My son, on the other hand, doesn’t understand the concept. I still send the candy and cards for him. I’m not sure if I do this so that I can feel some sense of ‘normalcy’ or so that he can be included in the festivities.
I honestly don’t know which one.
I think that’s the story of our lives. We either force him to be part of the norms or let him be an outsider. He doesn’t acknowledge any of the kids in his class so I’m not sure if they would even notice.
I don’t want to dwell on this tonight though. I’m going to write down his classmates’ names in each candy gram.
And in each card, I wrote: Thank you for being my friend. ❤️
