My husband is a high school teacher and for the month of April, he is spearheading an autism awareness campaign. His students have been working for about a month where they stay after school to work on posters.
For April 2nd, Autism Awareness Day, their goal will be to have students sign a pledge where they promise to be tolerant towards other kids.
The beauty of all of this is that they are excited. They have been working hard in making sure this event is successful by …having meetings and staying late after school.
My husband asked one off his students who is an art major to come up with an autism superhero to be displayed in their hallway.
And this is what he envisioned. And I am at awe. To see what this young man’s thoughts are and have them put on paper is astonishing.
It is simply beautiful.
