The monkey loves our private speech therapist. He anxiously but patiently waits for her before each of our appointments. And when he sees her coming to get him, he runs inside excitedly. Last week, he hugged her so much he didn’t want to let go. When my husband finally told him it was time to…

Dentist
Today was dentist visit. And as all autism households know, it’s just plain torture. My husband went alone. Both my daughter and I had to work. And this is the text he sent. 😢 And my heart just broke, for everyone. 💔💔
Graduation
Our daughter graduated from high school yesterday and our monkey wasn’t there. I thought about this for months. I debated to take him with us. I mean how could he not be there celebrating his sister’s achievements? But there were going to be over 700 students graduating. Multiply that with all of the families, I…
A Cup.
Milestone Wednesday: The monkey is always thirsty, he’s always drinking. We try to have waters and juices within his reach. When we run out, he will haul a gallon of water, or half a gallon of juice, or whatever he’s craving, up the stairs and give it to us, his nonverbal ways of saying he’s…
He keeps on surprising us.
Received this email from the monkey’s speech therapist from school. And he keeps on surprising us. ❤️
I Got This.
Sunday as we were cleaning the backyard the monkey fell into the pool by accident, on the deep end. Of course I screamed because of how scared I got. But the monkey, he simply swam towards the stairs, and calmly climbed out. We have been working on teaching him to swim for some years now…
Aqua Therapy
The monkey has been doing great. We’ve noticed once we open our pool for the summer, his behavior changes dramatically. We take him off his anxiety meds because the water soothes him so much. His appetite increases, he sleeps better, and he’s constantly smiling. 💙 #SummerTime #AquaTherapy
Five minutes.
Tomorrow is our meeting with the board. We only have five minutes to address our concerns. Five minutes. How do you squeeze in five minutes what this man has done to our son? How the school has tried over and over again to not tell us what happened? To hide behind definition legalities? How…
He surprises me…
And after much worry that field day would go terrible since it’s not part of his routine, the monkey pulls through and surprises me. 💙💙
Mother’s Day Gift
Today as I was waiting for the monkey to finish his OT therapy, I saw how the other kids were greeting their moms with roses and pictures. And I just love these little gifts. I loved it when my daughter made them and I love them when the monkey makes them. But lately he…
Here’s to tomorrow.
Today was rough. It seems that’s all it is lately. Rough. The daily notes from the monkey’s teacher have not been good. He has completely stopped eating at school. Since he was assaulted by his previous teacher, he doesn’t want to eat, he doesn’t want to go to PE, to music therapy, to recess, or…
Differently.
My husband and I always take news differently. He always sees the glass half full where as I always take longer to proces bad news. When we were recently diagnosed, I was going thru my phases of denial, anger, sadness, etc. It took me a while to fully accept it. My husband on the other…
