The monkey doing homework. Sometimes he does great but most of time it’s a battle. The meltdowns are rough and in the end, my husband and I hate ourselves for getting upset at the monkey.
I just don’t think it’s worth it.
We also have virtual class for thirty minutes three times a week. It’s rough because the monkey doesn’t want to stay. He prefers to run around or color or see cartoons. We hold him down or bribe him with treats.
I think like most parents we are in the situation of trying to figure out our new norm. And many times we just prefer to have a happy kid. Because the other option is being scratched and kicked and meltdowns.
I simply feel that the monkey can’t see us as teachers.
I love working from home. It’s been discussed that we may need to go back to the office which I’m really sad about. I will miss being here all day cooped up with my family.
But homework and virtual class is something I definitely won’t miss. ļ
My hats off to teachers and therapists out there. This change has shown us that your jobs are very essential, and very difficult, and not very much appreciated.
Thank you for all that you do.
Stay safe out there everyone! ā¤ļøš
